Hi, I'm Bo...

I learned about personal finance through pain. My life is your typical story of a person who was born down on their luck. What I’ve learned, is that you can either live through it, or get through it. I chose the latter…

 Rock Bottom

My rock bottom moment was almost having to drop out of college at 19 while my family lived out of a hotel in a different city. There isn’t a scarier experience than being kicked out with nowhere to turn. This is also where I witnessed the purest act of kindness in the form of a $20,000 grant to keep studying.

The Rebound

Three years and one bachelor’s degree later, I found myself with $75,000 in debt, living in a HCOL area making $40,000 per year. This is where my want to learn personal finance started. I saved 7 grand in one year and started to invest. I “house hacked” and was able to kick Sallie Mae to the curb. I still have some debt to tackle, but my progress has allowed me to live a more peaceful and fulfilling life. which is the point of this blog!
